Purpose of Job:
The Graphic Designer is a design specialist, who demonstrates the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, working on multiple projects to develop creative branding solutions. The candidate will interpret and translate our brand into quality design, and can effectively communicate this point of view with stakeholders and management.
In this role, you're responsible to execute the creative design, development and execution of major campaigns, local marketing initiatives, various programs, product launches and other initiatives. This requires ensuring executional accuracy and excellence with creative rigor to achieve brand consistency and positive brand image.

1. Graphic Design Strategy & Execution
Implementation of creative design, development & execution of major campaigns by:
Effectively manage the interests and input of all stakeholders – managers and business lines.
Provide direction and guidance throughout the design and development of marketing initiatives.
Ensure executional accuracy and professional excellence while managing brand architecture and graphic issues in all advertising media, POS materials, customer communication and staff materials, maintaining a clear customer focus in all communication projects emanating from the Bank.
Content management of images by collecting, resizing, and preparing images for SIMON & DAM.
Conduct new image searches for various marketing initiatives using the target information on a brief.
Primary role in the development and execution of all English/French/Spanish marketing materials.
Develop and execute all one-off internal assigned marketing materials.
Revise existing creative accordingly and work with managers for sign-off.
Release all approved material using the FTP site as well as creating mock-ups to production.
Archive final printer files and purge old agency files
Maintain knowledge of industry best practices in Graphic Design.
2. Communication (Creative Studio)
Develop and execute integrated customer communications through National campaigns, various local marketing initiatives, POS materials, Direct Mail, newspaper, magazine, and other collateral materials, in multiple languages.
3. Monitoring / Reporting
Accurately track all hours and revisions for studio metrics.
Functional Competencies:This job is accountable for the following:
Receiving briefs from Sr. Mgr. Creative Services as well as working directly with client on feedback and revisions. Plus working in-tandem with our production department on creative fulfillment and distribution.
- Requires understanding of all Scotiabank Groups branding and marketing channels.
- Expertise in all forms of traditional marketing channels and proficient in required specifications.
- Total Complement supervised – Direct 0 – Indirect – Occasional consultant or temp. worker.

Degree in Graphic Design, Advertising or Marketing
5+ years in role in either agency, publishing or in-house studio environment
Sound knowledge of marketing disciplines and processes within the financial industry.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills to clearly communicate the complexities and components of any project to external suppliers and internal groups.
Solid understanding of Scotiabank's Brand Identity guidelines.
Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite - In-Design, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat and Microsoft Office.
Apply design theory and impeccable attention to detail in creative.
Ability to creatively develop and execute new designs using creative brief.
Support by developing graphics as image files for SIMON.
Passion for design with full understanding of typography, layout, colour theory and composition with regards to print media.
Ability to work on complex projects independently, within tight deadlines, adapts to changing deadlines and delivers materials as per workback schedule.
Strong background in production to ensure materials meet printer and Scotiabank standards.
Spanish language is an asset.
