Manager Marketing and Communications

Our Client, a large Association in the Markham area is seeking a Manager, Marketing and Communications to join their growing marketing team. The candidate will support internal and external communications across both tradition and online formats. The company offers a complex, exciting environment for someone with strong understanding Marketing and Digital Marketing experience. (Reference Job # 9856)


Positive and Effective Leadership and Management of the Department

  • Assists in the development and execution of the CISC Vision, Strategic Plan and related CISC Business Plans
  • Develops, directs and executes the department Business Plans (e.g. Marketing, Communication).
  • Develops and executes separate marketing and business plans for all products and services meeting budget and strategic goals
  • Prepares and maintains budgets to meet the strategic goals and expectations of the business plans to the benefit of the overall organization
  • Tracks financial revenues and expenses for each line of services
  • Meets or exceeds Annual Budget and notifies the VP of Operations of any irregularities in a timely fashion
  • Completes identified projects and initiatives on time and on budget
  • Develops and maintains KPIs for each department of responsibility
  • Effectively communicates with staff, Regions, members, associates, stakeholders and the public in general
  • Maintain and preserve the standards of excellence, reputation and esteem of CISC
  • Follows and maintains internal policies and procedures and ensures that the CISC complies with all external governmental regulations as
  • Supervises and manages the activities of each applicable department
  • Mentors and supervises direct reports and subcontractors to ensure conformance, consistency, high performance and quality
  • Conducts annual reviews in a timely fashion consistent with the CISC performance review
  • Ensures the team works effectively and positively with other departments
  • Provides departmental training to all CISC staff as required
  • Ensures that staff are provided continuous education opportunities related to the objectives of the organization and department
  • Prepares and presents presentations as required
  • Maintains a culture of continuous improvement
  • Maintains and improves membership/associate value and satisfaction

  • Control and enhance the Brand of the CISC
  • Marketing of all products, services and membership meeting sales expectations
  • Annual Report
  • Website
  • Marketing Collateral
  • Marketing services for Regions
  • Use of Advantage Steel magazine, email quarterly, other stakeholder communication
  • Assisting in a general alignment of National and Regional Marketing Plans
  • Development and production of case studies
  • Research and studies
  • Graphics and video production for all departments
  • Communications Plan, Business Plan and Budget including:
  • CISC print magazine (Advantage Steel) and monthly email communique
  • CISC National quarterly member and associate communication
  • Preparation of government relations and press communications
  • Updating of all media platforms to ensure timely and effective communication
  • Social Media
  • Preparation, management and execution of steel articles


  • Degree, diploma or industry recognition in Marketing and/or Communication
  • 510 years experience in marketing of products and/or services
  • Experience in management of communications is an asset
  • Experience in use of social media for marketing products and services
  • Supervisory or management experience
  • Government relations experience is an asset
  • Excellent communications verbally and written in English
  • French is considered an asset
