In this position you may have the opportunity to be cross trained and fill in a variety of roles in TV, Radio and social media production, based on operational requirements.
As someone who supports our programming activities, you are adept at understanding client needs and designing and implementing creative solutions. You take interest in anticipating future trends and strive to keep us at the forefront of broadcast technology – all to ensure we can deliver our programming to our audiences how, when and where they want it.
Within the area of assignment, and according to the specified requirements, installs, sets up, operates, modifies, repairs and maintains equipment, facilities and systems. Creative problem solving is required in applying knowledge and theory of current technologies to solve problems, to modify existing methods and techniques, or to develop new ones. Work is generally performed according to accepted CBC or industry standards but there is latitude for independent action, judgment and initiative. Has responsibility for accuracy and quality of work. Consultation with technicians and other personnel requires comprehension of technical concepts and confirmation that they are understood. There are often requirements to work in an unsupervised environment.
Work is carried out in an efficient manner which is courteous, promotes constructive and collaborative working relationships, and which contributes effort and ideas to the team to achieve objectives. Consults with, and assists, technicians and other personnel, and work is conducted in a manner that promotes confidence.
Establishes and maintains internal and external contacts to secure information or make necessary arrangements for the provision of facilities.
We are looking for a candidate with the following:
- Must possess at least a two-year Post-Secondary technologist diploma from a recognized college in an electronic discipline or its equivalent as determined by the Corporation.
- Practical and relevant experience.
- A solid understanding of IT systems in media environment, including networking, active directory, user creation and rights.
- A solid understanding of digital video and digital audio technology and file transcode systems.
- Understanding of AVID (or similar) systems: servers and clients (Media Central, Media Composer, NewsCutter, Interplay/Access). (Asset)
- Understanding of DALET (or similar) system: servers and clients. (Asset)
- Audio and Video control room technology and workflows.
- Understanding of field audio and video over IP.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license as well as a driving record that meets the minimum requirements of CBC/Radio-Canada's insurance company.
- Understanding of the Google suite of tools (Asset)
