As WestJet becomes more complex and dynamic, we are seeking a Digital Marketing expert reporting into our Digital and Innovation team. The incumbent must be highly motivated and demonstrate the ability to work in an agile environment. Playing a key role within our Digital Marketing group, you’ll bring your performance orientated approach, competitive drive and analytical thinking to support our revenue targets. Our Digital Marketers are responsible for delivering on the strategic marketing plan for all retail marketing activities. They are responsible for helping establish and forecast revenue targets, as well as provide ongoing reporting against their paid channels. They coordinate with key stakeholders to deliver necessary assets for owned channels (website, email and social).

The Digital Marketer is responsible for leading and delivering the strategic direction for paid multi-channel campaigns with the right marketing mix. You will develop paid channel strategies to drive successful revenue generating campaigns from beginning to end with the support of campaign experts. You will help drive valuable insights and continuously optimize your paid channels accordingly. This role can be positioned in Calgary Alberta or Toronto Ontario.

  • Lead the strategy and execution of paid digital marketing channels (SEM, display/programmatic, paid social, third party email, etc.) as well as some traditional marketing channels (radio, print, OOH) to support retail campaigns, focusing on qualified traffic.
  • Present and execute small to large scale targeted retail activities, provide timelines, communicate updates and obtain proper approvals of go-to-market plans.
  • Listen and proactively seek competitive activities in order to provide recommendations accordingly.
  • Work with internal teams to deliver quick-to-market strategies, supporting automation and self-authoring where applicable.
  • Self-author into our website content management platform.
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships with internal teams (, Data & Analytics, Brand Marketing, Guest Communications, Social, Loyalty, Call Centre, Revenue Management and Pricing, Product and Sales) that will help deliver on digital marketing tactics.
  • Manage external agency partners: perform monthly and quarterly reviews, hold them accountable on strategic delivery, ensure weekly budget and target reporting both for retail and brand activities.
  • Work with external agency partners to develop creative concepts and paid media plans that are effective and in line with strategic marketing plan.
  • Build relationships and work with top advertisers (i.e. Google, Facebook) to stay on top of trends, tools and resources at your disposal.
  • Build revenue forecasts per paid channel and make recommendations on spend to meet and exceed revenue targets.
  • Work closely with the Brand Marketing team, continuously optimizing campaigns to determine the optimal brand/retail mix as well as ensuring campaigns are complimentary.
  • Work with external agency partners and tools to determine the right channel mix.
  • Forecast, measure, and deliver on-time reports on digital marketing performance across all channels against documented objectives, including sales comps, conversion metrics, and web and app traffic.
  • Proactively participate in the improvement and troubleshooting of retail processes.
  • Proactively participate in the integration of retail elements into brand marketing and digital projects.
  • Manage, maintain and report on your respective digital marketing budget.

Professional Qualifications:
  • Recognized Bachelor's degree and or diploma.
  • 5+ years' experience in a related discipline (Marketing, Communications, Digital or eCommerce), preferably within a Retail role with solid experience working with agencies in launching campaigns with advertising channels such as TV, radio, online display, paid search, paid social, print and out of home; along with having an understanding of coordination and integration with PR, Contesting, Experiential and Sponsorship teams.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, goal orientated, and relationship building skills.
  • Excellent project management and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to present ideas, negotiate, facilitate and problem solve.
  • Ability to bridge the gap between campaign stakeholders, management, agencies and creative teams.
  • High energy team player.
  • Great attention to detail.
  • Experience with return on marketing investment and marketing analytics, web analytics and KPIs.
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools and search engine optimization.
  • Principles of target markets and customer segments.
  • Digital commerce in the travel industry or other e-commerce industries.
