Marketing Coordinator

Book Depot is an innovative leader in the business-to-business and business-to-consumer book marketplace. Having been in business over 30 years and employing a team of 275+ full time staff, we are one of North America’s largest wholesalers and online retailers of discount books.

We have an immediate opening for a full-time Marketing Coordinator at our head office in Thorold, situated in the beautiful Niagara Region. The successful candidate is responsible for the day-to-day, hands-on execution of multiple marketing initiatives for our online B2C channel, brick and mortar retail store, and children’s book subscription service. We are looking for someone with a passion for marketing and a keen interest in making a big contribution within our marketing team.


  • Coordinate the retail store marketing efforts (social and traditional) and research new advertising channels
  • Work within the local community to raise the retail store’s brand awareness
  • Work with retail staff to ensure our retail store social media goals are being met both through organic and paid posting
  • Manage and execute the social media strategy for Book Outlet online with focus on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter
  • Create, edit, publish and share daily content across all channels and engage with customers
  • Coordinate company communications such as corporate newsletter and careers page
  • Act as the company’s brand ambassador attending outside functions and events during workdays, weekends and after work hours
  • Point of contact for charity requests, evaluating and deciding on actions needed
  • Work with the Media Marketing Coordinator on media projects such as YouTube videos and other social campaigns, occasionally speaking in front of a camera
  • Contribute to writing and coordinating various blog posts
  • Work with marketing team to develop and execute sales and promotions for our various brands
  • Provide regular detailed reporting for all online and offline marketing efforts
  • Analyze and report on A/B testing to increase engagement and conversions
  • Learn other related marketing tasks as opportunities arise to provide backup to existing team members


  • Completed post-secondary education in Marketing, Brand Management, Business Administration, Communications, or other related fields (new grads welcome to apply!)
  • Effective communicator (both written and verbal), creative, organized, willing to learn new programs, work well with deadlines, and ability to handle multiple brands
  • Ability to work independently, while also contributing as part of a team
  • Ability to translate analytic data into strategic ideas
  • High attention to detail
  • Open mind to taking on new responsibilities as the occasion arises

Working Conditions:

  • Monday to Friday 8:30am to 5pm with occasional work after-hours and weekends as needed
