Rights Administration Manager

Our ideal Rights Administration Manager will come to us with prior experience in rights management, and ideally with direct experience specifically in television distribution and merchandise licensing rights management. The successful candidate will be a curious individual with a well-developed sense of customer service, as well as being a detail-oriented professional. The role will be part of a growing rights administration team that provides niche support to both the distribution and merchandise licensing activities; this includes ongoing updates to Boat Rocker’s rights management systems and customizing avails reports for internal clients. Seeking qualified candidates in either the Toronto or London offices; this role will report to the VP, Rights Admin and Operations.

  • Read, interpret and input distribution sales licenses, merchandise licenses, and acquisitions agreements into rights management system
  • Responsible to complete onboarding process for new productions and acquisitions
  • Advise sales executives and business and legal affairs on rights availabilities to conclude deals
  • Run automated reports from rights management systems, and compile data in manual formats requested by the sales team
  • Ongoing review and ad hoc data projects to backfill and ensure data integrity
  • Review and resolve available rights clashes within the system
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Previous experience with rights management databases is strongly preferred
  • Previous experience in television distribution or other entertainment sectors is required
  • Knowledge of the television industry, and content media rights is required
  • Aptitude to organize and present information clearly and concisely
  • Experience in delivering quality solutions under pressure of tight deadlines
  • Proficiency and precision attention to detail with data entry
  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written
  • Ability to work well both independently and in a team dynamic
  • Responds well to direction
  • Proven problem-solving skills and analytical outlook
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and efficient
  • Competency in the MS Office suite and familiarity with Google Docs and Sharepoint is considered an asset, but not required
  • Experience with Rightsline is considered an asset, but not required
  • Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing
